Windows 8/10 64 bit platform will not let you install drivers that are not signed by default. While this is for your good, some drivers that are unsigned are not at all harmful but instead needed. One of these drivers are the MediaTek USB VCOM drivers necessary for software reworking on mediatek chipset based devices. Below are steps to be followed to disable the signature enforcement on the Windows platforms in questions.

  1. Get to the Power menu > and click 'Restart while holding shift down
  2. The computer restarts and boots into a special mode
  3. Click "Troubleshooting..."
  4. Click "Advance..."
  5. Click "Startup options"
  6. Click "Restart"
  7. The computer come back with a list of menus > click "Restart" again
  8. The computer comes up with a similar list of menus > click "F7" > the computer restarts into normal mode
  9. Signature enforcement is now off
