Question

I am using windows 8 on my laptop,I have installed abd drivers and the SP flash tool i loaded the scatter file,but its not flashing,i do pick up the Vodafone smart tan 3g but in control panel there is a yellow exclamation mark i tool the battery out it did pick ip on the PC but still does not flash when i put the battery back and switch it on it goes on but does the same,it hang by powered by android i have 2 off the same devices with the same problem,could it be that the adb drivers is not what i need is it the same as MTK vcom drivers?

Do you also know where  can download the stock firmware or custom firmware for the device(Vodafone Smart Tab 3G). I will really appreciate if you can help me.

Hey Hawie. Yes the two are not the same. You have MTK Preloader USB Vcom drivers needed by SP Tool and you have the ADB drivers necessary for ADB commands or needed by the MTK Droid Tool.The ADB pack is normally not sufficient on its own for SP Flash Tool. You need to install the MTK USB VCOM (MTK Preloader USB vcom) drivers in the following way (download link to the right pack is included thereon) http://thebroodle.com/microsoft/windows/how-to-install-mtk65xx-preloader-usb-vcom-drivers-in-windows/ - The flashing should be able to start off just fine after that.

Note: Vodafone Smart Tab III is not the same as the Vodafone Smart Tab 3G - the two uses different chipsets and you will most likely end up bricking the devices by using the the III's firmware on the 3Gs.
