Please be advised that the stock recovery will not let you install a ROM from the SD card. At this stage, you will need a Custom Recovery for the job (the 'recovery.img' file can only be flashed by a computer using the SP Tool).

  1. First download download and install the SP Tool - http://androidxda.com/smart-phone-flash-tool
  2. Download and Install MTK USB VCOM drivers - http://www.satechhelp.co.za/5834/Install-Mediatek-Preloader-Usb-Vcom-Drivers
  3. Download the custom 'recovery.img' file - http://www.mediafire.com/download/ngmjhwnaf84qvn5/CWMrecoveryV2.img
  4. Download the scatter file here - http://satechhelp.co.za/MT6572_Android_scatter_emmc_4018-vf685.txt.zip
  5. Flash it (recovery.img) in using the SP Tool
  6. Download the firmware pack here and copy it to your SD car and install the SD card onto the target device (VF685) - http://www.mediafire.com/download/8rr57maa2eq8qlb/PurpleProyect+By+SdkOne17.zip
  7. Boot into recovery mode and install from .zip - select the firmware file and confirm
  8. If all is done right, your phone shout boot just fine after it all.
  9. Otherwise, a full SP Flash Tool ROM backup (South African version) is available here http://satechhelp.co.za/rom-download

Hello , I installed the update and really enjoyed it , I installed CWM via flashity , but after installing the update I detected some issues that I am unable to solve: The cell no longer is the 3G network ; is accepting only communicate hands-free ; and does not install apps sent only accepts downloaded directly from the play store, otherwise it's okay. Can you help me?

This is a confirmation in a way. The 3G and Hand-free issues were the exact issues we ran into on the VF685 we worked upon :) - Please see http://www.satechhelp.co.za/3437/Vodafone-Smart-Kicka-Vf685-3g-Rom - Having said that, I will try and lookup an alternative and reply back.

On top of the issues already mentioned here: my VF685 doesn't charge after flashing the ROM. When I connect the charger(Wall/USB) it says charging, but it never does, the battery percentage continues to decrease. When I plug the charger while the phone is off, it just goes into a loop.

If you can get the battery to charge using a universal charger or another VF685 or Alcatel OT Pixi (Pixi 2), then you could try to start off will a clean auto format using the SP Tool or run the Alcatel OneTouch Updater and observe.

I've actually found a solution through this link http://www.4shared.com/get/kYftKVeHba/Vodafone__VF685__VF685__442__A.html
it has a stock backup ROM made with SPTool and I was able to return the phone to stock, I only kept the custom recovery(CWM).
The permanent Sim Slot lock is gone, as long as I don't insert the Sim card of the Network that it is being blocked to, otherwise I will have to flash again, because I won't be able to use any Sim card, even the approved Network's Sim card.

I guess I will just have to buy a new phone for my other network, instead of trying to unlock the VF685...

Thanks anyway
