How do I get rid of the W32/Virut.gen virus in my system?

It is contaminating my System32 .exe (executable) files. Avira seems to delete the cantaminated .exe files. Rendering their respective programs non functional. Help please.

Hey. Easy fix. Download and install the Microsoft Security Essential. Also download the offline Update defination from Microsoft. It will work with your Avira. You will be prompted to restart your system. That will be the last you will see of the W32/Virut.gen
