I do not have an active Internet Banking and I wish to send some money to my mom who uses Capitec and I'm afraid sending it from Standard Bank to Capitec may take longer to clear. Thanks.

The following are steps you are to take send an InstantMoney using the Cellphone banking service. It applies only to customers with Standard Bank accounts who have enabled cellphone banking:

The steps:

  • Dial *120*2345#
  • Enter customer-selected PIN (CSP) and confirm
  • Network Session Expiry Confirmation (20 seconds between each response)
  • Select Option 4 “Payments and Transfers”
  • Select Start New Transaction
  • Select Account (In case of multiple accounts held)
  • Enter amount from list or own amount
  • Select Cellphone number to which voucher details to be sent
  • a) Own number
  • b) Other
  • Create PIN
  • Reconfirm PIN
  • Select Send

When you are done standard bank will send a voucher number by sms to the person you are sending the money to. For this person to withdraw the money you need to give him/her the pin code you created, standard bank only send a vourcher number.
