How to downgrade a Windows 8 computer to a Windows 7 OS. The Windows 7 disc will not boot at all with the usual 'Press any key to boot from DVD' Thanks

  1. Make a Recovery Media (DVD set) of you Windows 8 recovery in case you ever wish to revert thereto as it is usually necessary to format the entire HDD for it to be detectable Win 7 install.
  2. Access the BIOS (called UEFI on a Windows 8 computer) - check your manual for the BIOS access key if F2 or F10 does not work
  3. Head to the Security Tab > Set Secure Boot to 'Disable'
  4. Head to the Advanced Tab > System Configurations > Boot Mode changes from UEFI to CSM Boot or Legacy Boot (you may have to try any other option you have either than UEFI if none of the listed appears on your Boot Mode menu)
  5. Click on F10 and confirm Saving Changes and exist the UEFI - Windows 7 disc should not install as normall. Reply if you have a question.
