I have an Acer ZC-606 that came with Windows 8. I have followed all the suggestions including a full security wipe and reformat of the HDD. Boots from Windows 7 install CD and from a USB install drive, BUT, it then freezes a couple of minutes into the install. It stops at a slightly different place depending on the install media, but neither one works for more that 2-3 minutes.

Acer says if you touch the operating system it voids the warranty and hence they are of no help at all. Anything else in the bios settings that could possibly mess up a Windows 7 installation?

Do you get any error code/message whenever the install terminates? Also do advise on any one of the areas where the install terminated when using USB/CD. If possible, also try a different bootable USB and observe.

Not concluding at all but freezing will normally indicates an HDD issue

Hello:

Check if you have selected the correct SATA mode. Go to BIOS settings==> Advanced==> Scroll down to SATA mode selection and select AHCI instate of IDE. Try the installation after this.

• If this does not work' reset bios settings to factory default.
• Make sure the installations DISC is clean and without scratches.
