I set my Lenovo A916 phone with an anti theft system and it gave me an anti theft pin as follows#mima#, I recently changed my sim from a 3G to a 4G sim, now the phone is asking me for a privacy protection password. The problem is I am unable to enter the password because the dial pad is only giving me numerals and I need alphabets. How can I enter the password. Any helpers??

Hey Isaac, this is what is happening

  • PPP (Privacy Protection Password also known as the Anti-Theft Lock) requires a minimum of 6 digit and does not support alphabets or symbols but numbers only
  • Mima must be a screen-lock (a screen-lock can be a 4 digit PIN, Pattern or an alphanumeric password)
  • Your Lenovo A916 is now having two levels of security locks
  • The PPP and the screen-lock password (mima)
  • You must have set the PPP/Anti-Theft Lock sometime ago and may have forgotten about it because it is normally triggered by a SIM card change like you said.
  • If you cannot remember the correct numeric PPP/Anti-Theft Lock, then a new firmware will have to be reloaded onto the A916 to clear it. Do try the default 123456 - Let us know

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I tried the 123456 but it did not work. But I will take it back to the dealer the phone has a warranty.

Thanks,
