Hi. Here is the general tenor

  1. Power the computer Up
  2. Insert the Window 7 disc (if not already inserted)
  3. If need be - restart the Compaq NC6120 and press F10 at the Hp logo screen
  4. You get a Boot Menu - from there on, select: CD/DVD Drive... you may get "Press any key to boot from DVD" prompting - do so if it comes up
  5. You will then get 'Windows is loading files' with a progress bar - then a loading, then you are presented with screen with and 'Install' button - click that.
  6. At the Upgrade and Custom options screen, choose custom - at the next screen, select the main drive - delete - click it again - click New - type the partition size in MBs (e.g 20GB will be 20000) - click Create when done - click the remain unpartitioned space - New - Create.
  7. The click the partition you mean to install the OS to and click Next
  8. The Installation will run and the computer will restart a couple of times in the process
  9. Last, you will be expected to enter account related info and computer-name. After that you are Done.
