Hi I have a vodaphone smart tab 3G. When I switch it off and then switch it back on again, all the apps disappear from the home screen and I have to drag them back on again. Same thing happens next time I switch off and on.

Hi. Are you using a third party theme or Launcher? You can try clearing the cache partition from recovery mode or using a Google Play App called App Cache Cleaner. Are you rooted? This can be a system crushing issue. A hard reset may be necessary if clearing cache does not help. If you have access to a computer, you could try the One Touch Upgrade Tool. Let us know.

Go to Settings > Apps > Downloaded > scroll through the list to ensure not reads 'Theme' or 'Launcher' and post back. While you add it, go to Play Store, download a install and app called 'App Cache Cleaner'

Thanks
It doesnt say theme or launcher anywhere. It just shows the app name, icon, and size.

No they have disappeared again. I think I will take it to a vodacom shop. Thanks so much for your prompt responses and help so far

That would be best I reckon as a firmware update (which has an inherent risk over user data and the tab's functionality at large) may be necessary and can be best handled there.
