You have to replace the old battery with the new one to avoid further damage.

Hi. To be able to best assist, we will need the brand and model number of your device. However, a swollen battery means a bad battery due for replacement. Depending on the age of the device, you may be able to avail a free service or replacement by going via your retailer.
