Hi. Yes there is a band/block mismatch. USA and (Cricket Wireless inclusive) uses a mix of the standard 850 MHz and 1900 MHz blocks while South Africa (with MTN inclusive) supports the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. With that said, there will therefore be very little you can conveniently do to improve the signal issue.
