the battery is on 70% but still it does not want to recover and the menu does not stay long enough for me to scroll as well went to vodacom said they need to book it in and flash the software and the phone and erase everything like a new phone

If recover mode does not stay long then the firmware is corrupted, and it should be flashed with a new one. You could do this your self if you have access to a computer.
